Dr Karen Hogg is a Consultant Cardiologist who specialises in Heart Failure and the provision of supportive & palliative care for patients with cardiac disease.

Karen trained in Glasgow and qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1999. Karen was awarded a British Heart Foundation junior fellowship and obtained a postgraduate doctorate studying Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection fraction. She was awarded an MD from the University of Glasgow in 2002. Karen sub-specialised in cardiology and trained in hospitals across the West of Scotland before obtaining her consultant post at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 2010. Working with the British Heart Foundation and Marie Curie, Karen developed a team to establish palliative and supportive care for patients and families living with heart failure: “The Caring Together Programme”. Karen is an Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow and works on clinical projects to improve care for people and families living with cardiac disease. Karen is the clinical lead for Cardiology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Chair of the NHS GGC Heart Failure managed clinical network.
