I am a caring and enthusiastic retired family doctor with over 30 years’ experience working in general practice. Throughout my career, the part of the job I valued most was the opportunity to truly know my patients, not just their medical histories, but their lives, stories, and the journeys they were on.
Listening has always been at the heart of how I work. Over decades in practice, I saw first-hand how life events, pressures, grief, relationships, and work stresses can shape both physical health and emotional wellbeing. Understanding the person behind the symptoms often made all the difference, and it was a privilege to walk alongside people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
One of the greatest frustrations of full-time general practice was time. Short appointments rarely allow space for complex issues to unfold or for people to feel fully heard. I have long believed that compassionate, unhurried listening fosters deeper understanding, and that solutions often begin to emerge through that process alone.
Now, in early retirement, I have the freedom to focus on what matters most to me. Using my experience to support people through stress, grief, major life changes, or simply offering a listening ear when it is needed. I am delighted to be working with the team at Westbourne Medical Studios, whose holistic approach to patient care reflects my own values and beliefs about modern healthcare.
