Heather Monteith
Breath Consultant and Psychotherapist
Looking back over a long and diverse working life, two central threads have always stood out for me—health and creativity. Now in my eighth decade, I feel privileged to still be doing meaningful work in service of others, sharing the wisdom of breathwork and the healing power of creative expression.
My journey began in the 1970s as a chef at Henderson’s of Edinburgh—Scotland’s first whole food and vegetarian restaurant, where I discovered the link between nourishment, movement, and wellbeing. During this time, I embraced practices like yoga and tai chi, which sowed the seeds for a lifelong passion for holistic health.
In the decades since, I’ve worked across many settings—from community education to drug rehabilitation, prisons, and family support groups—using art, craft, and breath to help others reconnect with themselves. Creativity has always been my personal refuge, and I hold an MA in Art History and English Literature from Edinburgh University, which continues to inform my perspective.
I co-founded Glasgow’s Phoenix Centre in the late 1980s, a pioneering city centre stress and wellbeing hub where I trained in breathwork, psychotherapy, Reiki, EFT, and metamorphic techniques. Out of that legacy grew Trust Your Breath, the charity I now help lead, where we continue to teach individuals and groups the transformative power of conscious breathing. I’m also co-author of Trust Your Breath and co-creator of two SCQF-accredited breathwork qualifications in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University.
I truly believe that correct breathing has the power to heal—individually and collectively—and I’m honoured to keep sharing this life-affirming work with those seeking balance, clarity, and connection.

Voice Analysis is an innovative therapeutic system that uses sound frequency analysis to support emotional and physical wellbeing. By recording and analysing the unique frequencies in your voice, the software generates personalised "Balance Files"—short audio tracks designed to promote harmony in the brain and body.
Rooted in decades of European research, this approach delivers bespoke frequencies through normal headphones or speakers, with sessions typically lasting no more than 15 minutes. The goal is to gently support the body’s self-healing mechanisms and improve emotional balance over time.
