May at Westbourne Medical Studios: New Website, Events & Expert Insights

Hello and a sunny welcome to our May update from Westbourne Medical Studios!

It’s been a busy time behind the scenes at the clinic, and we’re delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new website.
We hope it makes it easier for you to explore the full range of therapies and treatments we offer. Very soon, you’ll also be able to book appointments online directly from the site.

New Features on the Website

Our new platform doesn’t just look good – it’s packed with practical info, upcoming event details, an archive of past newsletters, and a dedicated recipe section from the Nourishing Studio. We’ll also be adding video introductions to our team of therapists.

The first two featured therapists are:

  • Dr Claire Higgins – Our highly respected Consultant Gynaecologist offering comprehensive outpatient gynaecology services.
  • Dr Karen Hogg – A Consultant Cardiologist with a focus on Heart Failure and supportive palliative care.

We’re proud to have these exceptional professionals on our team. And remember – we can often offer appointments faster than larger clinics.

Celebrate National Walking Month with Us

May is National Walking Month, and we’re marking it with a special Joe Dispenza Walking Meditation in the park next to the clinic.

🗓 Wednesday 28th May, 12.30–1.30pm
📍 Meet 10 minutes before at Westbourne Medical Studios
🎧 Please bring headphones and your phone – and a water bottle!

Walking meditations are an excellent way to calm the autonomic nervous system, and we guarantee you’ll feel amazing afterwards.

Every Week is Mental Health Awareness Week

While Mental Health Awareness Week was officially earlier this month, here at Westbourne Medical Studios, every week is mental health awareness week.

We recognise the deep connection between physical and mental health, and all of our practitioners take the time to understand what’s going on behind the scenes of your current condition.

From Nurse Diane: Boosting Energy & Immunity

When I check in with clients, I always ask about energy levels and life circumstances – because they affect wellbeing more than we sometimes realise.

One treatment that consistently makes a difference is the Vitamin B12 injection.
Because it bypasses the digestive system and goes straight into the bloodstream, many clients report a noticeable boost in energy within 24–72 hours.

Another popular choice is Vitamin C infusion, which helps strengthen immunity. It’s especially useful this time of year when hay fever and colds can flare up – even with the sun shining! It’s also a supportive therapy following emotional events such as bereavement.

Meet Our Homeopath: Caroline Greene

Let us introduce Caroline Greene, our passionate Homeopath who leads fermented food workshops and shares her knowledge at our Nourishing Studio throughout the year.

Caroline is also a volunteer with Breast Buddies and a Trustee of the Scottish Homeopathic Research and Education Trust. She believes deeply in the mind–gut–body connection and uses her hour-long consultations to discover the root of your symptoms – be they physical or emotional.

Once she gets to the core, she prescribes remedies that aim to cancel out symptoms and help you feel like your old self again.

📞 To book with Caroline, give our friendly reception a call on 0141 737 4700 or send us an email.

Nourishing Studio Recipe: Dr V’s Spinach & Feta Parcels

This month’s hero ingredient is spinach – a true nutritional powerhouse rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

Here’s Dr V’s easy recipe for Spinach and Feta Parcels – perfect for summer evenings and packed with goodness.

Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 1 leek, chopped
  • 150g fresh spinach
  • 100g feta cheese
  • Filo pastry sheets
  • Olive oil

Method:

  1. Sauté the leek and spinach in a pan.
  2. Stir in the feta cheese once cooked.
  3. Layer two filo pastry sheets, brushing each with olive oil.
  4. Place filling in the centre and fold into a parcel.
  5. Twist to seal and brush with more oil.
  6. Bake at 180°C (fan) for 20 minutes.

Pro tip: Dr V swaps filo for a homemade sourdough sesame pastry she learned at Caroline’s fermenting workshop.
