What does your skin say about you?

After all this lovely sunshine and warmth we are all about glowing with health this month!

Beauty goes much deeper than the skin but if you are one of those people who is suffering from problem skin we know how upsetting and pre-occupying this can be.

This month we are looking at the many ways we can all look after our skin.

We are very lucky to have some wonderful clinicians who can help you to achieve this.  Beata Bakos is our highly sought after Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Claire Higgins the Gynaecologist can make a huge difference to your skin if the root cause is hormonal, Nutritionists Karen Scobie and Marie Dandie have helped many people improve their skin by identifying nutritional triggers.  Our team of experienced holistic experts  see the skin as a reflection of what is actually happening inside the body and specialise in working at re-balancing our entire system from the inside out in order to see effective  change on the surface; Siobhan Fitzgerald, Roberta Weber, Heather Monteith, Caroline Greene and Nina Lunghi are each masters within their field.

I love this testimonial we received from one of the visitors to our clinic.  We really care about your health and that starts from the minute you first book a call.

“The overall experience whilst dealing with your issue is one of a calming experience. Gives full attention & solutions to your issue – great clinic”

This month’s newsletter, I am very excited about coleslaw season.  Not that there is a law about when to eat it but I seem to want it with everything at the moment.  Check out my peppery take on this popular summer side salad packed with polyphenols, vitamins and minerals.

If you would like to say something too about your experience of using our studios I would love to hear from you – please click on the link below.

Thank you so much for reading this newsletter – if you’ve anything you would like to see covered, mention it the next time you are at the clinic or send us an email.  In the mean time, I look forward to seeing you at one of our events – or the next time you are at the Studios.

We are very lucky to have access to some wonderful facial therapists at this clinic and as the summer draws on it’s nice to have a treatment to bring back that healthy post-holiday glow.

However, what really makes skin radiant is putting the right things into our body in the first place so it has everything it needs to look its best.

The most important one of these for the skin is Omega 3 but I love seeing people after a Vitamin C infusion.  It has an almost instantly visible effect.  We have a number of clients pop in to get a boost of this before heading off for their holidays or an event when they want to look their best.

It has the added bonus of boosting your immune system and preventing those pesky summer colds which we can pick up on a flight or at a large gathering.

This month’s featured member of the Westbourne team, is Tina Simpson who has a background in beauty and holistic therapies

When you are in the Nourishing Studio at the clinic you will see Tina’s Awesome Hugs products displayed in the case for you to purchase.  She created them herself, formulated with natural, non-toxic ingredients to nourish and heal the skin.   Tina has worked with many patients undergoing medical treatments like cancer which can have a profound effect on the skin making it enormously sensitive.

Tina understands the importance of treating the mind alongside the body because inner balance is reflected in our skin.  She tailors your treatment to suit how you are feeling at your appointment and she uses techniques including Reiki, massage, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique better known as tapping) and holistic facials.

She also helps people overcome challenges and cultivate a postive resilient mindset through her coaching.  If you’d like to find out more about the work she does click on her picture above – or the button below if you’d like to book an appointment.

Team Training

Last month we had CPR training for the team.  It is important for everyone in a medical setting to be up to date with their First Aid training and we were pleased to welcome Dr Catherine Brown to our studio to show us all how to carry out this life-saving procedure.

Skincare Event – Free Mole Check

4-6pm on Tuesday 2nd September

With more of our skin on display at this time of year we might be aware of a new mole or changes in ones we’ve had for a while.  Dr Veronica and Nurse Consultant Diane will examine your skin for any unusual or concerning moles using a dermatoscope which magnifies them allowing them to inspect them closely.

Early skin cancer detection and treatment of melanoma significantly improves the chances of a successful recovery.

We are offering this service free to clients of Westbourne Medical Studios and we welcome suggestions for a skin cancer charity we would like to support that day.

If you would like to come along please contact the Front of House to book your appointment on the Tuesday afternoon.  If you have a friend who would like to get their skin checked all they need to do is to call and register with the clinic.  We will take a deposit which is redeemable against their first appointment.
